If you will need to install course software on a computer other than your own (say a computer owned by your employer or your school), there may be concerns raised about security and licensing issues. You can share this document with anyone raising such concerns. We hope it will make installation of course software faster and easier.
The following are the points we are aware of at which there may be questions about security at your site. (See the installation instructions.) You may also need a software license.
Please note that this is a list of general issues that may raise concern at your site. In the years we have used Box Sampler, we have never had any instances with the software actually causing security problems.
The textbook can be read on-line. You also have the option of downloading it in its entirety (along with the answers to many of the problems). This is a large PDF file. You will need to be able to download and save a large (13 Mb) file.
These come on a CD bundled with the textbook for Intro.1 and 2. They run directly from the CD, but write a small log file to one of your drives (and look for that file each time you run the software). If the file is not found, you will have to reenter your license number to create a new one.
Minitab is a standard commercial product and so you can just follow usual procedures. Details will depend on the nature of your Minitab license. The Student Edition is meant for installation on a single computer used by an individual. Site licenses (and academic discounts) are available if you want to install it in a lab or on a network.
