Likert scales are categorical ordinal scales used in social sciences to measure attitude. A typical example is a set of response options ranging from “strongly agree” to “strongly disagree.” Likert scales might have an odd numbers of response options, in which case the middle one is neutral, or an even number, in which case the respondent is forced to choose one direction or the other.
