Week #18 – Centroid

The centroid is a measure of center in multi-dimensional space.  The centroid of several continuous variables is the vector of means of those variables.  A geographic centroid in two dimensional space is the point at which the geographic entity would balance if placed on the tip of a pin.  Lebanon, Kansas, for example, is the geographic centroid of the contiguous lower 48 states in the U.S.
